The recommend- ed erasure procedure for the M27W512 is expo- sure to short wave ultraviolet light which has wavelength 2537 A. The integrated dose (i.e. UV intensity x exposure time)gfor erasure should be a minimum of 15 W_sec/cm2. The erasure time with this dosage is approximately 15 t0 20 minutes us- ing an ultraviolet lamp with 12000 pW/cm2 power rating. The M27W512 should be placed within 2.5 cm (1 inch) of the lamp tubes during the erasure. Some lamps have a filter on their tubes which should be removed before erasure.

The Reset command is provided as a means to safely abort the Erase or Program command sequences. Follow- ing either setup commands (Erase or Program) with a write of FFH will safely abort the operation. Memory contents will not be altered. After the Reset command, the device returns to the Read mode. The Reset command does not enable Software Data Protection. See Figure 7 for timing waveforms.
