To implement the current limit function, an external resistor RinAAX is need. The resistor should be connected between the drain of the high side MOSFET and the IMAX pin. A con- stant current of around 180 pA is forced into the IMAX pin and causes a fixed voltage drop across the RIMAX resistor. This voltage drop is then compared with the VDS of the high side MOSFET and if the latter is higher, over current is reached. So the appropriate value of RiMAX for a pre- determined current limit level ILIM can be calculated by the following equation:
